How does unlimited data work on the Vietnam eSIM?

Does this eSIM include calls and SMS with a local Vietnamese number?
No. All TurTrip plans for Vietnam are data-only. For calls, use VoIP apps such as WhatsApp, LINE, or Skype over mobile data or Wi-Fi.
How long is my eSIM plan valid for?
It depends on the plan you choose, such as 7, 15, or 30 days. The validity period starts when you set up or activate your eSIM in Vietnam, not when you pay.
All TurTrip eSIMs also have a 6-month validity period. If you don’t use your eSIM during that time, it expires automatically 6 months after its last use.
What connection speeds can I expect in Vietnam?
The eSIM offers 3G, 4G, LTE, and 5G speeds depending on your location and the available coverage. In urban areas, browsing is generally smooth. In less populated areas, speeds may be lower, with priority given to connection stability.
Can I share my data with other devices in Vietnam?
Yes. With your TurTrip eSIM, you can share data using tethering or hotspot with other devices, such as a laptop, tablet or another phone, as long as your device supports it.
Any data you share is deducted from your plan, just as it would be if you were browsing on your phone. Video calls, browsing on a computer and streaming can use data more quickly.
We recommend using tethering occasionally and checking your usage in your TurTrip account to stay in control. If you need more data during your trip to Vietnam, you can easily top up your plan at any time.
Should I turn on data roaming in Vietnam?
Yes. For your eSIM to work correctly, enable data roaming. There are no extra charges because you’re not roaming with your usual carrier.
What should I do if my eSIM doesn’t activate when I arrive?
If your eSIM doesn’t activate when you arrive in Vietnam, don’t worry: a few simple checks usually fix it. First, make sure your TurTrip eSIM is selected as your mobile data line in your phone’s settings and that data roaming is turned on.
If it doesn’t connect right away, try restarting your device or turning on and off airplane mode for a few seconds to start a new network search. Also make sure you haven’t enabled a data limit or a power-saving mode that could be blocking your connection.

Can I install my eSIM before traveling to Vietnam?

Does the eSIM work on domestic flights within Vietnam?

Will my eSIM work in rural, mountainous or remote areas of Vietnam?
Yes. Your TurTrip eSIM works in Vietnam wherever there is mobile coverage. In popular cities and tourist destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hoi An and Ha Long Bay, the connection is usually stable and suitable for browsing, maps, and messaging apps.
In rural areas, mountainous regions or more remote destinations, like Sapa, Ha Giang or less populated areas in the north and center of the country, coverage may be more limited or speeds lower. This is normal and depends on your location and local infrastructure, not your eSIM.
During long road journeys, mountain routes or excursions, the signal may vary. That’s why we recommend downloading offline maps and planning your data usage ahead of time for peace of mind.
