What is an eSIM and how does it work?

When can I install and activate my eSIM?
You can install your eSIM whenever you want, but it will only be activated when you use it for the first time (that is, when it connects to a network at your destination).
We recommend installing it before traveling, in a place with a good Wi-Fi connection, so everything is ready when you land. Once you arrive at your destination and activate mobile data, your eSIM will start working automatically! For more information, you can check the activation guide.

Which phones are compatible with eSIM?
TurTrip eSIMs work with most devices that have eSIM technology. This includes many models of iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel, and others.

How and when will I receive my eSIM?
Once you complete your purchase, your eSIM will be instantly available in the “My eSIMs” section of your TurTrip account.
From there, you can view and scan your QR code or manually copy the details if needed. We will send you a confirmation email with a direct link for easy access, but the QR is not attached to the email for security reasons.
🧭 Helpful tip: access the dashboard from a computer or another device to easily scan the QR code with your phone.
How long is my eSIM valid?
All TurTrip eSIMs have a validity of 6 months. This means that if you don’t use it during that time, it will automatically expire 6 months after the last use.
For example: If you last used your eSIM on January 1, it will remain active until July 1.
🧭 Travel tip: If you're planning a new trip after several months, make sure your eSIM is still active, or purchase a new one from our website.
Can I use my eSIM along with my physical SIM card?
Yes, you can use your TurTrip eSIM alongside your physical SIM card without any issues. Your phone will manage both lines at the same time, and you decide which one to use for what:

What happens if I use up all the data on my plan?
We will send you an email when you are close to running out of data, so you can easily top up your eSIM with a single click. You can also recharge it at any time by contacting us at [email protected] or visiting our website.
Can I top up my eSIM when I run out of data?
Yes! At TurTrip, you can top up your eSIM at any time from our website. When it reaches around 80% usage, we’ll notify you so you’re not caught by surprise. This way, you can choose whether to recharge before running out of data or wait until it’s depleted.
🔄 Just log in with your email address and add a new plan to the same eSIM. The top-up is activated instantly, and you don't need to install anything new.
Can I use my eSIM for calls or text messages?
TurTrip's eSIMs are for data only, but you can use apps like WhatsApp or Skype to stay in touch.
