Mobile coverage in Italy is very good in major cities and tourist areas such as Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice, or Naples. The connection is made through leading local networks in Italy such as Vodafone Italy, WINDTRE and Iliad Italia S.p.A., providing a stable connection for most of your trip.
In rural or mountainous areas, or during long road trips, especially in Alpine regions or less populated areas, speeds may vary depending on your location and the available coverage.
All unlimited data eSIMs for Italy include unlimited data throughout your trip, so you can explore without worrying about losing your connection. Here’s how it works: you get 1 GB per day at maximum speed, ideal for smooth browsing.
Once you’ve used your daily 1 GB of high-speed data, your service stays active. Your speed is reduced to 1.25 Mbps, so you can still use WhatsApp, Google Maps and social media, check bookings, find restaurants, or read your email. You stay connected even after using your daily high-speed allowance.
Every 24 hours, your allowance resets automatically to 1 GB at maximum speed, without you having to do anything. Each day of your trip, you get a fresh high-speed data allowance to use your phone as usual.
No. All TurTrip plans for Italy are data-only. To make calls over the internet, you can use apps that work with your mobile data or Wi-Fi connection.
Your eSIM for Italy lasts for the period included in your plan, such as 7, 15, or 30 days. The validity period starts when your eSIM first connects to a compatible local network in Italy, not when you install or buy it.
Keep in mind that all TurTrip eSIMs also have a validity period of 6 months. If you don’t use it within that period, your eSIM will automatically expire after 6 months from activation or last use, even if you haven’t used up your data plan.
You can connect to 3G, 4G, LTE, and 5G networks, depending on the available coverage and your device’s compatibility. In urban areas, browsing is generally smooth; in less populated areas, speeds may be lower, with connection stability taking priority over maximum speed.
Yes. For your eSIM to work correctly in Italy, keep data roaming turned on in your phone’s settings. There’s no extra charge: you’re using the local network linked to your TurTrip eSIM, rather than roaming with your regular carrier.
If data roaming is off, your device may not connect even if the eSIM is installed correctly. Turn it on before using data and keep it enabled throughout your trip in Italy to avoid connection interruptions.
Yes. You can share your TurTrip eSIM’s data connection with other devices using tethering or a mobile hotspot, such as a laptop, tablet, or another phone, as long as your device supports it.
Shared data comes out of your plan, just as it does when you browse on your phone. Video calls, browsing on a computer, and downloads can use data faster.
We recommend using your hotspot when needed and checking your usage in your TurTrip account. If you need more data during your trip, you can easily top up your plan at any time.
If your eSIM doesn’t connect when you arrive in Italy, don’t worry: a few simple steps usually fix the issue. First, make sure your TurTrip eSIM is selected as the line for mobile data in your device’s settings and that data roaming is turned on.
If you don’t connect right away, restart your phone or switch airplane mode on for a few seconds, then off, to restart the network search. Also check that a data limit or power-saving mode isn’t blocking your connection.
In most cases, these steps fix the issue within a few minutes. If you’re still offline, log in to your TurTrip account and contact our support team, who will help you resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Please note that Italy has mountainous areas and less populated rural regions. In remote regions, such as alpine areas or long road journeys, coverage may be more limited or speeds lower. This is normal and depends on your location, not your eSIM.
For trips to remote areas, we recommend downloading offline maps and planning your data usage, especially for long journeys or trips through sparsely populated areas.
