How does the eSIM from TurTrip work in Brazil?
Frequently asked questions about eSIMs for Brazil
How does the TurTrip eSIM work in Brazil?

Once activated, your eSIM automatically connects to local networks that are available, so you can use the internet throughout your trip to Brazil, without having to swap your physical SIM card or worry about roaming.
Is my phone compatible with the TurTrip eSIM for Brazil?
The TurTrip eSIM for Brazil is compatible with many models of iPhone, Samsung, Google Pixel and other brands with built-in eSIM technology.
To use it, your device must meet two basic requirements:
- Support eSIM technology.

Before buying, find your model in our search tool: Check my phone. You can check compatibility and any restrictions based on the version or country of purchase.
For more information, see our guide to eSIM-compatible phones.
What coverage does my eSIM offer in Brazil?
Coverage is very good in major cities and tourist areas such as São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Belo Horizonte and Florianópolis. Your eSIM connects through the networks of TIM S.A., Claro Brasil and Vivo.
In rural or more remote areas, speeds may vary, although the connection usually remains available for basic use.
How does unlimited data work on the Brazil eSIM?
All unlimited data eSIMs for Brazil include unlimited data throughout your trip, so you can explore without worrying about losing your connection. Here’s how it works: you get 1 GB per day at maximum speed, ideal for smooth browsing.
Once you’ve used your daily 1 GB of high-speed data, your service stays active. Your speed is reduced to 1.25 Mbps, so you can still use WhatsApp, Google Maps and social media, check bookings, find restaurants, or read your email. You stay connected even after using your daily high-speed allowance.
Your 1 GB of high-speed data resets automatically every 24 hours. There’s nothing you need to do: each day of your trip, you get a fresh high-speed allowance to use your phone as usual.
What connection speed can I expect?
The eSIM offers 3G, 4G, LTE, and 5G speeds depending on coverage and location. In cities, browsing is usually fast and smooth. In less populated areas, speeds may be lower, with connection stability taking priority.
Should I turn on data roaming in Brazil?
Yes. For your eSIM to work correctly, enable data roaming. There are no extra charges because you’re not roaming with your usual carrier.
How long do my data and my plan last?
Each package shows its validity period (for example, 7, 15 or 30 days), starting from the first connection. No data is used before activation: your eSIM is ready in your account. Data usage starts when you turn on mobile data in Brazil.
All TurTrip eSIMs also have a 6-month validity period. If you don’t use your eSIM during that time, it expires automatically 6 months after its last use.
Can I share my data connection (tethering) with other devices?
Yes. You can use your phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot to share your eSIM connection with a laptop, tablet or another phone, as long as your device supports it.
Shared data is deducted from your plan, just as it would be if you were browsing on your phone. Sharing your connection, especially with computers or for video calls, can use more data.
We recommend using tethering occasionally and checking your usage in your TurTrip account so you don’t run out of data before the end of your trip. If you need more data, you can easily top up your plan at any time.
Will my eSIM work in the Amazon or very remote areas?
It works without issues in major cities and towns. In very remote areas, such as rainforests or sparsely populated regions, coverage may be limited and connection speeds may be slower. This is normal and depends on your location.
Can I use the eSIM alongside my physical SIM?
Yes. You can keep your usual SIM for calls and use your TurTrip eSIM for mobile data. This is a common option in Brazil.
What should I do if my eSIM won’t connect when I arrive in Brazil?
Make sure your eSIM is selected as your mobile data line and data roaming is on, then restart your phone. If the problem continues, contact our support team.
Can I use the same eSIM on future trips to Brazil?
Yes. The eSIM profile stays on your device. If you return within six months, your eSIM is still valid and you top it up, you’ll only need to turn on mobile data when you arrive.
Does the eSIM work with banking apps and digital payments?
Yes. Banking apps and apps like Uber, Cabify, Pix, Google Maps and WhatsApp work normally with your data eSIM.
Can I buy an eSIM when I’m already in Brazil?
Yes. You can buy it at any time. Delivery is instant and installation is quick, provided you have Wi-Fi to install it.
Does the eSIM work at large events or in crowded areas?
Yes, although speeds may temporarily drop at busy concerts, matches or events due to network congestion. The connection usually remains stable enough for basic use.
