Once activated, your eSIM will automatically connect to the Smart Philippines and Globe Telecom networks, so you can enjoy a fast, reliable internet connection throughout your trip to the Philippines.

What coverage does my eSIM offer in the Philippines?
Mobile coverage in the Philippines is excellent in major cities and tourist destinations, thanks to the Smart Philippines and Globe Telecom networks. You’ll enjoy a fast, reliable internet connection in places such as Manila, Cebu, Boracay, El Nido, Coron, Bohol and Siargao, so you can browse the internet, use maps, share your trip and stay connected throughout your stay.
On some remote islands, in mountainous regions or sparsely populated areas, coverage and connection speeds may occasionally vary. However, the main tourist areas and most popular destinations have good mobile infrastructure, so you can enjoy reliable internet access with complete peace of mind.
Does this eSIM include calls and SMS with a local Philippine number?
No. TurTrip’s eSIM for the Philippines is designed exclusively to provide mobile data, so it does not include a local phone number or support traditional calls and SMS.
However, you can easily make calls and send messages through apps such as WhatsApp, Telegram, FaceTime, Messenger and Google Meet, or any other app that uses an internet connection, either via mobile data or Wi-Fi.
How long is my eSIM plan valid for?
The validity of your eSIM for the Philippines will depend on the plan you choose. We offer 7, 15 and 30-day plans, as well as other durations, so you can choose the best option for your trip.
The validity period begins when your eSIM is first activated in the Philippines, not on the purchase date. This means you can buy it in advance, install it before your trip and have everything ready to enjoy internet access from the moment you arrive.
In addition, all TurTrip eSIMs have an activation period of up to 6 months from the purchase date. If you do not activate your eSIM within this period, it will automatically expire and can no longer be used.
How does unlimited data work with the eSIM for the Philippines?
All unlimited data eSIMs for the Philippines include unlimited data throughout your trip, so you can travel without worrying about losing your connection. It’s simple and transparent: you get 1 GB of high-speed data per day, ideal for browsing smoothly.
Once you’ve used your daily 1 GB of high-speed data, your service stays active. Your speed is reduced to 1.25 Mbps, so you can still use WhatsApp, Google Maps and social media, check bookings, find restaurants, or read your email. You stay connected even after using your daily high-speed allowance.
Your 1 GB of high-speed data resets automatically every 24 hours. There’s nothing you need to do: each day of your trip, you get a fresh high-speed allowance to use your phone as usual.
What connection speed will I have in the Philippines?
The eSIM for the Philippines offers 3G, 4G, LTE and 5G speeds, depending on network coverage and your location. In cities and urban areas, the connection is usually fast and smooth, making it ideal for maps, social media, messaging and working online.
In less populated or rural areas, or on long journeys, speeds may be lower. A stable connection takes priority over maximum speed so you can keep browsing and using essential services.
Do I need to turn on data roaming in the Philippines?
Yes. For your eSIM to work correctly in the Philippines, you need to keep data roaming enabled in your phone’s settings. This will not incur any additional charges, as you are not using your regular mobile operator’s roaming service, but the local network associated with your TurTrip eSIM.
If data roaming is turned off, your device may not connect to the network even if the eSIM is installed correctly. We therefore recommend enabling it before you start using mobile data and keeping it turned on throughout your trip to the Philippines to prevent connection issues and enjoy uninterrupted internet access.
Can I share data with other devices (tethering)?
Yes. You can share your TurTrip eSIM’s data connection with other devices using tethering or a mobile hotspot, such as a laptop, tablet, or another phone, as long as your device supports it.
Shared data comes out of your plan, just as it does when you browse on your phone. Video calls, browsing on a computer, and downloads can use data faster.
We recommend using your hotspot when needed and checking your usage in your TurTrip account. If you need more data during your trip, you can easily top up your plan at any time.
What should I do if my eSIM doesn’t connect when I arrive in the Philippines?
If your eSIM doesn’t connect when you arrive in the Philippines, don’t worry: the issue can usually be resolved in just a few steps. First, make sure your TurTrip eSIM is selected as the primary line for mobile data in your device settings and that data roaming is enabled.
If you don’t connect right away, restart your phone or switch airplane mode on for a few seconds, then off, to restart the network search. Also check that a data limit or power-saving mode isn’t blocking your connection.
These steps usually resolve the issue in a few minutes. If you’re still offline, contact our support team and we’ll help you get connected as soon as possible.
Can I install the eSIM before travelling to the Philippines?
Yes, and we recommend it.
Installing your eSIM in advance will not use any data or start your plan’s validity period. The eSIM will only activate when it detects a local network in the Philippines. Installing it before your trip means you won’t have to rely on airport Wi-Fi and can enjoy internet access from the moment you arrive in the Philippines.
Will my eSIM work if I travel between different islands in the Philippines?
Yes. Your TurTrip eSIM for the Philippines works in the country’s main cities and tourist destinations, including Manila, Cebu, Boracay, El Nido, Coron, Bohol and Siargao, wherever mobile coverage is available. Thanks to the Smart Philippines and Globe Telecom networks, you can browse the internet, use maps, book transport and stay connected throughout your trip.
Keep in mind that the Philippines is made up of more than 7,000 islands, so coverage or connection speeds may be more limited in some remote areas, mountainous regions or islands with less infrastructure. This depends on the network available in each location and not on the eSIM itself.
If you plan to visit less-travelled destinations or take trips to more remote islands, we recommend downloading offline maps before you set off and keeping bookings, tickets and other important information accessible without an internet connection.
Does the eSIM work with banking apps, transportation apps, and local services?
Yes. TurTrip’s eSIM for the Philippines allows you to use online banking, payment, transport and booking apps, as well as any other service that requires an internet connection, as usual.
You’ll be able to use Google Maps, book a ride with Grab, reserve hotels or activities, check flights, use banking apps and communicate via WhatsApp, Telegram, Messenger or any other app throughout your trip to the Philippines. Since this is a mobile data eSIM, all these apps will work just as they would with a traditional mobile connection.
If an app needs to verify your identity via SMS, you’ll receive the message on your usual number as long as you keep your physical SIM active. This is why many travellers use their TurTrip eSIM for mobile data while keeping their primary SIM active to receive important calls or messages. This way, they can enjoy internet access in the Philippines without giving up their usual number.
Can I buy the eSIM if I’m already in the Philippines?
Yes. You can buy your eSIM for the Philippines even after you’ve arrived in the country. You’ll only need an internet connection to complete your purchase and install it, for example via Wi-Fi at your accommodation, the airport, a café or any other access point.
As soon as you complete your purchase, your eSIM will be instantly available in your TurTrip account, ready to install in just a few minutes. Then, simply activate the eSIM line and data roaming to start browsing, without having to find a shop or buy a local SIM card.
Buying your eSIM online allows you to save time, avoid queues and enjoy internet access from the moment you arrive, whether you’re in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, El Nido, Coron or any other destination with mobile coverage.
